Meet Your Therapist
ALEX CONWAY, LHMC
(PUP DISCO 🪩)
Hi, I'm Pup Disco! I firmly believe in the power of living authentically — not just as a therapist, but as someone who's walked this path myself. I know what it's like to wonder if you're "normal," to worry about judgment, to navigate sharing this part of yourself with loved ones, and to crave genuine connection with people who get you and see your full self.
I'm here to help you on your journey of self dicovery, so you can live more fully, and build the confidence and connections that make life richer and more joyful.
My Approach
I want to start with something important: you're not broken. You're not too much or too little. You're simply human, exploring what brings you joy and connection—and that's beautiful.
You'll find me curious rather than judgmental, warm rather than clinical, and absolutely committed to helping you live authentically and joyfully.
Traditional psychology often focuses on what's wrong, and centers treatment around a diagnosis. I believe this is counter productive and can actually lead to increased shame and stigma. Instead, I believe it's more important to focus on the positive — what brings you joy? How can you live more authentically? What does thriving look like for you?
Whether your goals, we'll explore it together at your pace. Some sessions might be practical (like preparing for important conversations), others might go deeper into identity and belonging. I'm honored you're considering letting me support you on your journey.

My Professional Journey
My journey started long before I knew it would lead here. I've always been drawn to understanding what makes people tick and what makes them heal. While in school in Rhode Island, I worked with at-risk LGBTQ+ youth at The Trevor Project, fought for systemic change at the ACLU, and later spent my early career as a clinical psychologist supporting people through their darkest and brightest moments — from substance use, to trauma, to helping immigrants navigate complex life transitions.
But somewhere along the way, I realized traditional psychology was missing something crucial. Too often, we focus on what's "wrong" instead of what's possible. We pathologize differences instead of celebrating the courage it takes to live authentically. This can increase shame and stigma—exactly the opposite of what our communities need.
That's when I discovered positive psychology and Buddhist approaches to healing — frameworks that honor the whole person and focus on flourishing, not "fixing". These concepts resonated so deeply with me that I wrote a book about them.
Despite our differences, we all need:
✨ To be seen for who we truly are
🤝 To connect with like-minded individuals and chosen family
🌱 To be inspired to become our best selves
